Community guidelines

A quiet place to read together.

Community is built for encouragement, not attention. These rules apply to profiles, discovery, connection requests, Together, Boards, reports, blocks, and appeals.

Effective September 20, 2026 · Version 2026-09-20

Eligibility and consent

You must be at least 18 to create or use a Community profile, even if you are eligible to use Kept’s private reading features. You must make your own informed choice, accept the current Community rules, and provide truthful eligibility information. Do not create a profile for another person or evade a restriction.

Community is optional. A Kept account and private library do not become public merely because Community exists.

Respect the person

Treat every member as a person, not a target or a score.

  • No harassment, threats, stalking, hate, sexual solicitation, humiliation, or encouragement of self-harm.
  • No impersonation, deceptive identity, coordinated abuse, spam, scams, referral manipulation, or artificial activity.
  • Do not reveal or request private identifying, location, health, financial, account, or contact information.
  • Do not use a handle, display name, bio, report, referral, or other public field to promote illegal activity or content that exploits or endangers anyone.
  • Share only material you have the right to share. Do not publish copyrighted passages, private notes, or another person’s material in public profile fields.

Publication screening

Kept screens user-authored public profile text before it is published and can reject text associated with abuse, sexual solicitation, hate, threats, personal information, spam, or other prohibited conduct. Automated screening can be imperfect and does not replace reporting or human review. Repeated attempts to bypass a safety control can lead to a Community restriction.

Privacy and boundaries

Profiles begin private and non-searchable. You choose whether other members can discover you, request a connection, or see a streak. Together exposes only the bounded shared state needed for the pair; it does not reveal a private library, book title, note, highlight, photo, recording, or file.

Kept Community does not provide direct messages, public comments, public likes, a public feed, or a public follower count. A nudge is a bounded reminder, not a message channel. Never try to move an unwilling member to another service.

Reading and Board integrity

Do not automate reading activity, manufacture evidence, replay events, collude to alter ranks, or exploit a bug. Free and Pro members follow the same scoring rules. A Hold can protect a streak but does not award activity or Board points. Frozen Board snapshots are historical; a successful appeal can correct verification and future scoring without silently rewriting the past.

Report and block

You can report a discoverable or connected member for a good-faith safety or integrity concern and block that person without waiting for a report decision. Blocking removes ordinary discovery and connection paths between the accounts and ends shared activity to the extent the product explains at confirmation.

Include only the detail needed to review a report. False, retaliatory, or abusive reports can violate these rules. Reports are not monitored in real time. Kept is not an emergency service; if someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.

Moderation and appeals

Authorized reviewers can find no violation, issue a warning, reject or remove public content, restrict discovery or Board participation, or suspend Community access. The response should reflect the evidence, severity, safety risk, and repetition. Private reading access remains separate when it is safe and lawful to preserve it.

Verification and Board results can be appealed from the applicable feature. Account and safety concerns can be sent through Support. An appeal must identify the specific error and should not include unnecessary private content. Kept records the outcome and reviewing operator for accountability.

Contact and changes

Material changes use a new policy version and receive any acceptance or notice required for the affected feature. Questions and safety follow-up can be sent to kais.thedev@gmail.com.
